Yesterday the minutes from the January 30-31 Fed meeting were published. The data published shows confidence in the strength of the economy from the central bank officials. Furthermore, the minutes strengthened predictions of imminent interest rate increases. The release contributed to the strengthening of the dollar against a basket of major currencies. Thus, the dollar index rose above 90.00, while the yield on 10-year bonds rose above 2.95%.
This week the White House held private talks between Donald Trump and the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, in which the Prime Minister invited the head of the White House to use part of the Australian pension fund to finance infrastructure.
Today in the eurozone the ECB meeting minutes of the monetary policy will be published. In the US, out will be data on crude oil stockpiles, while in Canada we expect the base index of retail sales for December.
