The President of the United States Donald Trump formally filed a lawsuit against Deutsche Bank and Capital One Financial Group. The lawsuit is filed jointly also by three of Trump’s children (Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr.) and seven of Trump’s companies. The President and his family are suing these banks in order to stop them from sharing information about their finances with the investigation committees started by the Democratic Party.

The Financial Services Commission and the Intelligence Committee have both stated that the subpoenas sent to the banks regarding the Trumps’ finances are entirely in order and there is no reason to expect that they will be blocked in court. According to US law, the President is a public figure and is therefore not entitled to the same degree of privacy as regular citizens, especially when ongoing investigations are concerned.

The President has repeatedly denied access to his financial information, including his tax returns, which other presidents and candidates have released in the past. His adamance on keeping his affairs private at all costs have made the Democrats increasingly suspicious and right now Trump is suspected of mishandling public funds.
