The disagreements between the United States and China are still continuing. The countries held two rounds of negotiations - one in Beijing and one in Washington, DC, but neither session managed to bring about a solid agreement on trade policies between the world’s two leading economies.
This week the conflict was brought before the World Trade Organization by representatives from China and the United States. The US claims that China’s policies regarding foreign companies doing business in China require them to give up too much of their intellectual property, leaving them vulnerable by allowing Chinese companies to copy their methods and products. This is one of the central issues that led the White House to impose sanctions on China in the first place.
Currently the United States is seeking the support of the WTO regarding the tariffs Trump wants to implement on China. At the same time, China expects the WTO to find the claims by the USA to be baseless and condemn the tariffs.
