The White House Is Keeping Busy

US President Donald Trump continues to find himself in one scandal after another. After refusing to share his tax returns publicly ever since the campaign trail leading up to his presidency, Trump recently asked the court to block a request for his taxes filed by the District Attorney of Manhattan, NY.

According to the judge presiding over the case, Trump’s lawyers claimed that the Attorney cannot ask for the tax returns of the President, his businesses, and his family while in office, i.e. that the President is immune to scrutiny and that his records are private. However, there is no such law and Trump’s request was denied. Trump’s opponents might now finally get a hold of eight years worth of taxes that Donald Trump filed.

In other White House-related news, the United States is set to resume its trade negotiations with China starting this Thursday. Investors have been looking forward to these talks for weeks, as the trade conflict between China and the US remains the single most important issue on the financial markets.

Trump’s team will be in the spotlight during the talks, as last week the President publicly called on China to become involved in the 2020 US Presidential Elections. There are allegations that Trump is stalling the negotiations in order to secure personal favors from China.
