The United Kingdom parliament has been hard at work all week to push forward a bill that will tie Boris Johnson’s hands and prevent a no-deal Brexit. After two successful votes in the Commons, the bill had to proceed to the House of Lords.

There is a decent number of pro-Leave MPs in the Lords, so it was widely expected the bill will meet the first line of resistance there and stall its progress. However, without much debate, the bill passed through the House of Lords successfully and is on its way to becoming a law.

Meanwhile, members of parliament continue shifting loyalties. Berger, who left the Labour party earlier this year, joined the Liberal Democrats. Furthermore, Boris Johnson’s younger brother Jo also announced he is quitting politics.

Boris Johnson gave a speech yesterday, in which he once again reiterated that he would like to take the United Kingdom out of the EU by the October 31 deadline and would not ask for a delay.

Right now there are a lot of unknowns regarding Brexit, but we are likely heading for an early general election in mid-October.
