The Last Meeting of Janet Yellen as Fed Chief

Yesterday the most recent Fed meeting was the last one to be led by Janet Yellen as chairman. At the meeting it was noted that inflation may reach the target level of 2%, and it could lead to speculation on the theme of accelerating the pace of raising interest rates. It is expected with a probability of 90% that at the next meeting on 20-21 March the rate will be increased by 0.25%. Furthermore, in this quarter the US Treasury will increase the sale of long-term debt to $66 billion in order to cover the budget deficit growth.

China is trying to open up the domestic bond market to attract foreign capital to the relatively high yield, so in 2017 $55 billion was raised in Chinese government bonds.

Cryptocurrencies continue to decline amid the desire of regulators to first get rid of the "anonymous" data handling currency. Thus at the time of writing this article, the most popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin lost 6.41% and dropped below $10,000 and reached its lowest value for this year - it now costs $9,638.
