A North Korean representative will arrive today in New York for talks on the possibility of an upcoming summit between Kim and Trump. Moreover, ahead of the summit, on June 7th in Washington is scheduled to arrive the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who is going to meet with Trump. This was announced by the General press secretary of the White House Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Donald Trump continues his pressure on China, stating that he supports tariff restrictions in the amount of $50 billion and the restriction of investment in high-tech assets. Yesterday the White House said that the tariffs will be introduced after the 15th of June when the final list of targeted products will be published. After that, China's Ministry of Commerce expressed their surprise on this occasion and suggested that China could protect their own interests.
The euro continued to fall against the backdrop of political turmoil in Italy, where after repeated elections, some parties actually turned them into a referendum on membership in the EU. The currency rates have also been affected by the political negotiations between the EU and the UK regarding the openness of the Irish border.
Today the Bank of Canada will publish its decision on interest rates. According to preliminary projections, the rate will remain unchanged at 1.25%.
