With the recent developments around Brexit, sentiments in favor of a second public vote are becoming more and more popular. While initially the Labour party was wary of a second referendum and tried to push for a customs union deal with the EU instead, now their leadership is openly supporting a second vote on whether the UK should part with the bloc.
As of yesterday, despite all of the criticism the decision caused, the UK parliament is on a break, as decreed by the Prime Minister. Members of parliament will not be able to take any official action until October 14. They did already secure several wins against Boris Johnson, however. The PM will not be able to take the United Kingdom out of the EU without a deal unless Parliament approves of it, and he is likely to have to ask for a delay until the end of January 2020.
While Parliament is inactive, the Labour party will have to carefully decide on their priorities. Jeremy Corbyn wants to first ensure a hard Brexit is not possible, then hold a general election, and only after winning it call for a second referendum. On the other hand, his deputy Tom Watson believes that the second vote is more important than the general election.
