Recently Donald Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to further discuss the plans for the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. Trump had previously boasted that he will manage to change Kim’s mind and convince him to stop North Korea’s extensive nuclear weapons program, but today he announced that the two leaders were unable to reach a satisfactory agreement.
According to Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un made unreasonable demands in wanting all of the sanctions currently imposed on North Korea to be lifted immediately. The United States is the principal country who imposed sanctions on North Korea, but many others have followed, leaving the country to rely mostly on its relationship with China for its international trade. Trump said that the rest of the summit went well and that America’s relationship with North Korea is developing positively, but he is not ready to sign such a deal just yet.
